Healthy food diary: weekly meals/

    Dreamer's weekly healthy food diary

      Hello!
The winter here is pretty rainy, windy and tastes like teas and honey, how does your winter taste like?

      My daily breakfast consists of:
    • a giant cup of tea, hot chocolate or coffee (depending on how early it is).
    • there is also always a bowl of muesli or fresh fruit (this week I did not make any of my favorite smoothies).

    For Desert
We had a delicious carrot cake with raisins and a mascarpone frosting with almonds and chocolate sprinkles (we had to battle with it for about 4 days until it was gone), that goes amazingly well with a cup of hot chocolate with whipped cream of course.

    Lunch
    Friday
Roasted potatoes, mushrooms and peppers with apple slices for desert and a big cup of hot chocolate.

Excluding the excessive amounts of hot chocolate, the menu was pretty clean and healthy, containing plenty of vegetables and as little meat and sweets as possible. How healthy do you consider your weekly meals to be?

Weekly food diary: healthy-ish meals/

     Hello lovelies!
Today's post is all about food and eating healthy-ish :) .
My breakfast this week consisted of either fruits or crunchy oatmeal with nuts and fruits inside.

Moving on to lunch and dinner: potatoes, potato wedges, jacket potatoes, savoury dish with corn flower and veggies; chicken breasts with guacamole souse, and stir fry veggies were the stars on the table.

As for cheat snacks and sweets: I've made an apple pastry with chocolate, and oatmeal cookies; plus we ate few times cake and doughnuts outside. Now there is a lot of running and sports awaiting to be done, so that all of the extra sugar rust/calories are gone.

Chaophraya Thai Restaurant & Bar, Glasgow review/

Our eternal love for food and natural curiosity led us to trying some Eastern delicacies. I've always been highly recommended to try Thai food so we finally ended up in the city center's Chaophraya restaurant - in the middle of Buchanan street, just a little after Forever21. We sat in the open area as the weather outside was sunny and warm  - Scotland is an extremely lovely place in the summer. Too bad that season doesn't knock on the door for more than few days in the year ( 2013 is a lucky exception).
By reading reviews of places you get a rough idea what is the mass/common view and then decide whether to invest your time going there. I am not a fan of Negative reviews, unfortunately this one is going to be such. There are pros and cons listed to be fair and honest. It was a bit of delight and a bit of a disappointment.
    The Menu

    Pros:
    • Nice selection of different kinds of food: Rice and Noodle section; Meat section; Salads and soups and vegetarian options as well.
    • Delicious - absolutely wonderful - spicy, however not burning your mouth.

    Cons:
    • Taking into account its central location - on the High Street - less than 5 minutes from George Square, the price range was reasonable. Around £10 for appetizers and around £15 for a main course meal.
    • However if it was not in the city center the prices would not fit what you get. The main meal would not feed you if you are really hungry (as in the case was as much as the appetizer).

    Customer Service:

    Pros:
Very friendly and positive - always polite and smiling. Overall very helpful.
    Cons:
EXTREMELY unorganized. Firstly we had to wait more than 15 minutes after sitting to be offered a menu, after asking for one in the beginning (it was not extremely busy at that point). There were 3 different waiters serving us, ending up with ordering a coke to all three of them which came 20 minutes after we've asked the 1st waiter ( my glass of Mekong came on time - just about 5-10 mins after the order). The meals came without any delays served by another 4th waiter and were lovely.
Mekong - alcoholic drink: whiskey from Thailand
Customer service is a vital thing for me, it can put me off even from the best places: shops/ restaurants; no matter if the quality of the food is good, if you are mistreated in a way (as in our case forgotten for few times by different waiters) then that place does not deserve your attention.

Mekong - alcoholic drink: whiskey from Thailand
Grade for customer service 1 out of 5, because the staff were polite. Nonetheless our orders came with extreme delays. It might be due to a training process, tiredness, the heat...but it happened few times, which I do not consider as good excuses.

Fried Prawns: with cherry tomatoes and cucumbers

If you'd like to try Thai food I would strongly recommend it...but not especially in that restaurant.

Beauty from the nature: oil and vinegar/

    Hello!/ :))

The big dilemma now - to put it on your face, or on your plate?

Being an absolute beauty addict and curious to try new things I have decided to apply more natural products into my daily routine. Realizing the sad truth that all the posh* and glamorous shampoos and conditioners would be not just an unnecessary splurge, but a loss of trust in the brand - when it comes to serious issues with the hair. I was not surprised when I came across million blogposts, articles and videos about how to get rid of the unpleasant dandruff (you can read more about what causes it here)  - the cure is apple cider vinegar! However the great ideas are simple, yet so hard to think of in the 1st place.
The hair mask treatment is simple - pour the vinegar on your scalp and put on a cap, while you sleep with it. In the morning rinse off and apply shampoo, there is no smell remaining after, however it might cause a little bit of discomfort if you are sensitive to scents (it was 1,5-2 out of a 5 point scale for me). I saw big difference after the 1st procedure and continued doing it 2 times weekly for a month. After 7 procedures I have about 50 ml left. An apple cider vinegar from your local store might be a lot cheaper version, which will work just as well.
Omega 3-6-9 oil and Apple balsam vinegar from Vomfass in Buchanan Galleries

Olive oil can be used as a makeup remover. It breaks your makeup/even waterproof magically and also conditions the skin.  Also along with antibacterial dish washing gel (50/50) you can wash your makeup brushes - they need to be desinfected and conditioned! Here is a video by Michelle Phan explaining how and why. I have tried it today and I hope my brushes had an amazing spa treatment ha-ha.
I am keen on trying Marroccan oil which is good for the hair. And the average price for a bottle is around 30 pounds, however if you buy it from http://www.vomfassuk.com/ it is few times cheaper. Around 10 pounds for 100 ml. (and you pay for a glass bottle separately).

One day few weeks ago I was wondering about one shopping center, which happens rarely, because after few hours walking around nameless shops you feel dizzy and miserable. It's often full of eye candy, which is predominantly for window shopping, part of the reasons being - you do not need to own many things which you do not need. Anyway - that is NOT the philosophy of a shop-a-holic!
Omega 3-6-9 oil and Apple balsam vinegar from Vomfass in Buchanan Galleries, Glasgow

I found the best place to explore tastes from all over the world - a stall with oils and vinegar, usually used for cooking. The staff were extremely nice and helpful - wonderful customer service. There are products from Greece, Italy and Germany - the last one is actually the supplier for Scotland. I have tried around 8 different types of vinegar and oil and ah there are so many amazing tastes which can make a big difference to your dish!
For cooking purposes the products might seem a bit prissy - depending on your food budget, however for my dark cosmetic plots they were just perfect - 13,80 for 2 100 ml bottles.
If you want to try something new - go for it, explore the wonderful world of tastes and try to change something in your routine - change is good...even if you are testing it just to make sure you are better off without it.
